Meet Lexi!

For all those Aussie lovers looking for a lower energy pint size pup Lexi is your girl!

Lexi is a female Mini Black-Tri, Australian Shepherd/Dachshund Mix (how fun is this!), 25 lbs., around a year old.

When Lexi first came into the rescue, she was a little shy, but the moment those little legs walked into her awesome foster home her tail couldn’t stop with happiness!

Lexi found the toy box and she immediately pulled out every single one, she really LOVES to play.

Lexi is an extremely well-behaved little girl! She sleeps through the night in her kennel, but I’m sure she would rather curl up at your feet. She LOVES to be outside in the fenced in yard. Even in the cold weather she wants to go lay down on the deck and try to sunbathe. She knows the commands “go kennel”, “sit”, she is working on “come” and “down”.

She loves to ride in the car, she just curls right up in the backseat and takes a little nap. She is wonderful with other dogs, she can keep up with her foster siblings that are both 45 pounds.

She is such a clever little girl, and adorable as well. Her cute little face and her short chubby legs is enough to melt even the toughest people.  Since she is much smaller than your standard Aussie, she doesn’t have as much energy either. So, a couple of short walks a day and some playtime keep her calm and happy.

She hasn’t been around kids or cats at all, but with her sweet temperament I wouldn’t think they would be a problem. She is such a sweet and loving little dog and would make a perfect companion for just about any family.

She only had a couple accidents in the house the first week of being in foster care and is doing amazing now.

Lexi needs a fully fenced yard please.

Lexi is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella). Lexi has also been fecal/heartworm tested, both of which are negative. Lexi is Micro-chipped. Lexi takes monthly preventatives for heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention.

Lexi is being fostered in the St. Louis, Missouri area.

If you are interested in this sweet girl, please visit our website at www.centralaussierescue.org and read our FAQ to see if you are a candidate. We only do meet and greets with approved applicants so please consider completing an adoption application after viewing our FAQ.

  1. I would love to adopt Lexi. She is absolutely beautiful and sounds so loving. We have had two previous fur family kids. Our first was a wonderful Border Collie/ Collie mix. After she left us we had a beautiful Sheltie, who left this world in 2014. Our own children are grown and moved out and we are definitely feeling the empty nest syndrome. We do have a fenced in back yard and we obviously have a lot of experience loving the herding dogs. We would love to give Lexi a permanent, loving home!

    1. Hi Jeri – If you read Lexi’s Bio it will give you instructions. Read the FAQ’s first then complete an application to adopt, both found on this site 🙂

      Thank you so much!
