Meet the amazing Dexter!
Dexter is a beautiful blue Merle weighing in at 50 pounds. He is only 10
months old, so may fill out a bit (born 2-22-18).
Dexter still has lots of puppy energy!
He loves playing outside and taking long walks. He loves his toys and carries them around the house and
yard. Anything that squeaks is his favorite! He needs tough chew toys
(kong) or bones and will tear up soft toys. He has not shown any
destructive tendencies toward furniture.
Dexter is smart and responds well to treats and training. He can “sit”
“shake” “down” “roll over” and “climb”. He consistently “comes” when
called. He loves to jump, and foster mom thinks he would respond great
to agility and obedience classes. He wags like crazy when it is time for a
walk but still needs a bit of work on heeling and not pulling.
Dexter loves his crate and goes right in when asked. He is quiet and
sleeps all night without a peep (or bark).
Dexter is house trained and will go to the door when he wants to go
outside. He has had no accidents in his foster home.
Dexter gets along fairly well with his foster sister – they love to take walks
together and play chase in the yard. However, he can be a little too
exuberant for her at times.
Dexter would love a big space to run and play in, and someone who would
train him and take him on daily walks.
We are not sure how he would get along with cats or other small animals.
He is reactive to squirrels on walks. Not sure about small children but
suspect he would try to herd them! He has been around older children
and is fine (with supervision) with them.
Dexter is up-to-date on his age-appropriate vaccinations and has been
fecal tested (negative), heart-worm tested (negative), micro-chipped and
neutered. He takes monthly preventatives for heart-worm prevention and
Dexter is being fostered in St.Louis, Missouri.
